IM Engineering Eurasia awarded new contract

The Georgian International Energy Corporation (GIEC) owns and operates hydro as well as thermal power stations in Georgia. As part of its plans to increase its installed hydropower capacity by 50 % by 2020, the company intends to construct a 5 MW regulated run-of-river power plant with dam, settling basin, diversion pipeline, penstock and powerhouse on the River Bzhuzha.

In August 2018, IM Engineering Eurasia was awarded a contract by GIEC to provide detailed engineering design services for Bzhuzha-2 HPP. The scope of work of the assignment includes an assessment of the technical and economic feasibility of the hydropower plant as well as detailed design for the selected option.

The power generated by the plant will be fed into the existing 35 kV transmission line, which supplies electricity to residents in the municipality of Ozurgeti in Guria region in southwest Georgia.
