Fatal Flaw Assessment of 2 HPP Sites in Georgia

As part of the USAID-financed Development of Regional Energy Markets (D-REM) Project, IM Maggia Engineering and IM Engineering Eurasia will conduct a fatal flaw analysis of the technical feasibility of 2 proposed hydropower sites. Khada HPP and Aragvi 3 HPP have been identified for technical assistance.  

The primary objective of the study is to determine whether there are any fatal technical flaws to the two proposed sites, which in turn, will determine whether either or both sites should be the subject of a further, more detailed feasibility study.

Scope of services

  • Desk review of existing data and litera-ture for the sites
  • Pre-feasibility incl. collection of hydro data
  • Physical assessment of sites: hydrologi-cal, geological and geotechnical review, review of interconnection requirements and provide potential recommendations
  • Remodelling of general layout to convert the tunnel headrace into a penstock and assessment of penstock routing option
  • General layout drawings of water intake, powerhouse and penstock
  • Fatal Flaw Analysis Report
